Zelma L. Rothhaar, 80, of rural Bucyrus stepped into glory Friday morning, May 18, 2012 at her residence.

She was born on November 10, 1931 in Bloomville to the late Halcyon and Laura (Smith) Detterman. Zelma married Kevin W. Rothhaar on April 30, 1950.

Zelma is survived by her loving husband of 62 years; their four sons, Alan (Jean Ann) Rothhaar of Nashville, Mich., Daniel (Rosalyn) Rothhaar of Burlington, Ky., James (Debra) Rothhaar of Ligonia, Ind. and David (Suzanne) Rothhaar of Bucyrus; 10 grandchildren, Timothy Rothhaar, Ricky Rothhaar, Krista (Jacob) Noorman, Paul (Kaeli) Rothhaar, Brian (Lisa) Rothhaar, Sarah Rothhaar, Joel (Sarah) Rothhaar, Jenna Rothhaar, Anna Rothhaar, and Tyler Rothhaar; three great grandchildren, Zachary Noorman, Chloe Noorman and Eli Rothhaar; two sisters, Bernice (Clifford) Price and Patricia Clark; three brothers, Charles Detterman, Gerald (Donna) Detterman and Kenneth (Evalyn) Detterman.

In addition to her parents, Zelma was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Detterman.

Zelma was a member of First United Baptist Church in Tiffin. She was a homemaker, mother, Pastor's wife and teacher. She graduated from Bloomville High School in 1949. When Kevin was called to the ministry, they moved to Omaha, Neb. where she studied education at Grace College of the Bible and received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her teaching career included schools in Nebraska, North Dakota and Wayside Christian School in Bucyrus.

Before falling ill, Zelma enjoyed worshiping her Savior through the gift of music as a soloist, pianist and with her accordion.

The Rothhaar family will receive friends Sunday, May 20 from 2-5 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayside Chapel, Pastors Timothy Compton and Ron Renauro officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Christian School through the funeral home.
