Warren A. Sanger, 86, of 2084 Lincoln Highway, Bucyrus, went to be with the Lord on October 6, 2010 at 1:35 PM, surrounded by his family. Warren was born July 24, 1924 in Edgerton, Kansas to Frank P. and Matilda (Quelhorst) Sanger. He graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Agricultural Sciences. After spending time in China, Australia, and throughout the United States doing mission work and well drilling, Warren then worked at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IICA) in Turrialba, Costa Rica, teaching farmers new and modern ways of raising coffee and sugar cane before returning to Ohio in 1965. He worked for Landmark in Columbus, Paulding, Celina, New Washington, Mount Gilead and Bucyrus, Ohio retiring in 1986. He later served as a security guard for Baja Boats in Bucyrus. Warren was a devoted husband and family man who unconditionally loved his wife and family. He loved taking family lake-side vacations in northern Michigan. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, working on his small farm, local fairs, church activities, and the many friends he made. On March 2, 1956 in Springfield, Kansas, he married Betty Vargas Chacon of San Jose, Costa Rica, and she survives. Also surviving are children, Kenneth J. Sanger, Jenice M. (Jerry) Hensley, Randall W. Sanger all of Bucyrus and Michael V. Sanger of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jeramie (Amy) Hensley of Bucyrus, Jesse Sanger of Sycamore, Joshua (Michelle) Hensley of Naples, Florida, Kory Sanger of Wapwallopen, Penn.; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jaxon (Jeramie and Amy) Hensley of Bucyrus, and Joslynn Marie (Joshua and Michelle) Hensley of Naples, Florida. Warren is also survived by sisters, Hazel Augsburger of Columbus, Ohio, Edith Layton of Bare Foot Bay, Florida; special niece, Katherine (Kay) Vance of New Albany, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Irene Sanger of Lansing, Mich., Eulalia (Merrill) Sanger of Quinter, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews throughout the states and Costa Rica, and his pet, Chita. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Pauline, Louise, Ethelda, Norma, Merrill and Vance. At his request he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered on the family farm. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Saturday, October 9 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 216 Hopley Ave., Bucyrus. Rev. Don Kraps will be officiating and family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service. He asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to PCC or to Epworth UMC. PCC is a charity started by his grandson Joshua to help build an orphanage which will house 24 children and 4 mothers in Haiti. These contributions may be made through Wise Funeral Service or at the church during the memorial service.
