Wanda Jean Fox, 89, of Bucyrus and formerly of Upper Sandusky died late Tuesday, June 7, 2017 at Orchard Park Assisted Living.
She was born in Bucyrus on August 30, 1927, the youngest daughter of the late Clarence and Effie (Emfield) Downing and attended Bucyrus schools. Wanda met a young man from Tiffin named Kenneth E. Fox, better known as Bud, and they were married in 1946 after his discharge from the Navy. They lived in Bucyrus until moving to Upper Sandusky in 1971 and he preceded her in death in 2001.
Wanda worked as a homemaker, enjoyed growing flowers, playing cards, and doting on her grandchildren. She and Bud enjoyed many Canadian fishing trips and visiting Las Vegas and nearby casinos. She was a very big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes as well.
Wanda is survived by daughter, Carolyn (Tom) Bursby of Bucyrus; daughter-in-law, Mary Fox of Upper Sandusky; grandchildren, Julie (Jason) Passet, Jason Bursby (fiancé Tina Blum), Mandy (Josh) Swinehart, and Jessica (Mickel) Fattig; great grandchildren, Micah Swinehart, Nick Passet, Garrett Passett, Kennedy Fattig, Samuel Bursby, Ashton Blum, and Jaren Blum; and many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Madelon Hollar.
In addition to her parents and husband of 55 years, she was preceded in death by her son, Ken Fox, Jr.; brothers, Ralph, Edwin, Louis, and Raymond Downing; sisters, Erma Pearl, Ada Ream, Elsie Charlton, and Irene Virtue; and in-laws, Ralph and Hilda Fox.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 9 in Oakwood Cemetery with Josh Swinehart officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made payable to Wyandot County EMS, an animal shelter of the donor’s choice, or Kindred Hospice and given through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W Warren St, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Wanda’s family thanks the staff at Orchard Park for their excellent care, especially that of Misty. Memories and photos can be shared on Wanda’s Tribute Wall.
