Virginia Ruth Headley

Virginia Ruth Headley, 92, of Hanoverton, passed away September 7, 2021 at Liberty Nursing Center of Mansfield.



Ruth was born April 30, 1929 at the family farm in Deersville, Ohio to the late Dwight and Minnie (Riley) Barber. She graduated from Freeport High School in 1947 and was a former employee of Scio Pottery, a 4H member, 4H advisor, and a homemaker. Ruth married the late Rodger R. Headley, a World War II veteran, on June 25, 1947 by Rev. John Cahun Smith.



Ruth was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Hanoverton for 50 years. She served there as a deacon, trustee, and the president of the United Presbyterian Women group. Ruth enjoyed making baby crib quilts that she would give away, watercolor painting, traveling, western square dancing, and her family. They were 33 year members of the Wally Bryan Travel Club and spent 15 winters in Melbourne, Florida.



Ruth is survived by her two daughters Sharon (Richard) Licklider and Cindy (Keith) Hodges; grandchildren Heidi (Joe) Sherwood, Troy Licklider, Autumn (Michael) Wilson, Jesse (David) Scyoc, Kaitlin (Troy) Brown, and Colt McCombs; great grandchildren Michael, Bryan, and Julia Sherwood, Gabrienna, Brant, Baylie, Livia, and Arabela Wilson, Peyton and Ira Scyoc, Trey and Apollo Brown, and Weston Rhoades; niece Bonnie Sands; nephew George Cubbison; brother-in-law Joe Headley; and sister-in-law Sally Headley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, her sister Mary M. Cubbison, her brothers-in-law Gilbert Headley and Hearl Cubbison, and her parents.



Burial will take place at a later date in Sunset View Cemetery in Londonderry, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to the Bethesda Church Memorial fund and can be sent to Wise Funeral Service at 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
