Viola M. Landman, 79, of Bucyrus and formerly of Cleveland died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Bucyrus Community Hospital of complications from a recent illness.
She was born December 24, 1933 in Detroit, Mich. to the late Walter and Mary (Kozian) Landman. After high school, Vi attended secretarial school and embarked on a successful career, working for a number of companies, retiring from Union Carbide.
Vi was very active and enjoyed a good round of golf. Her parents settled in Bucyrus and she fell in love with the relaxed pace of the community over the hustle and bustle of Cleveland. She enjoyed planting flowers, decorating her home, was an avid reader and loved the many pets she had over the years. She will be remembered as an independent, hardworking and kind woman who enjoyed a good cup of coffee and the company of family and friends.
Vi is survived by her nephew, Michael Kahler of Elmhurst, Ill.; nieces, Maryanne Nagy of Janesville, Wisc. and Linda Hopkins of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six great nieces and nephews; close friends, John and Dorothy Miller of Bucyrus and her beloved cat, Sadie. In addition to her parents, Vi was preceded in death by her sisters, Doris Kahler and Opal Dey and nephew, William Hopkins.
Friends may gather for a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 9 in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Jim Ellis officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
