Vaughn Edwin James, 86, of Minneapolis, Minnesota died Thursday, October 18, 2018.
He was born in Crawford County on December 21, 1931 to the late Coy and Elsie (Campbell) James. Vaughn graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1949, received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bowling Green State University in 1953, and a M.B.A. from California Western University, San Diego, in 1964. After serving as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1956, he worked as an electronic technician, a technical writer, and taught in trade schools and colleges for a few years. He then was a software engineer for Best Buy Enterprises in the Minneapolis area. He was a leader in computer user groups and believed highly in animal rights.
He is survived by his sons, Bertrand Russell James and Robert Michael James; stepchildren, Sharon Davis Hentges and Glenn Allen Davis; siblings, Melvin Lawrence James, Laura May Cobb, Wayne Leslie James, and Gerald Laverne James; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Vaughn was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola, and second wife, Betty, whom he met at the Unitarian-Universalist Church.
A private burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs on a later date.
