Vada M. Jenney

Vada M. Jenney, 73, of Bucyrus, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at her residence following a brief battle with liver cancer.

She was born in Bucyrus on September 21, 1938 to the late John A. and Mary E. (Zaebst) Messerschmidt, Sr. and was a 1956 graduate of Bucyrus High School. On January 3, 1959, Vada married Ronald W. Jenney who survives.

Vada worked at JC Penney for a short time, was a local distributor of the Columbus Dispatch for three years and held other retail positions, but her main love was taking care of her family as a homemaker. She always made sure that the home was spotless and enjoyed cooking and baking tasty meals and treats for the ones she loved. Some of the family favorites were her graham cracker pies and cream cookies.

Vada was a woman of strong faith and conviction. She was dedicated and baptized a Jehovah's Witness in 1955 and loved witnessing to others that which meant so much to her.

She was a conservative person and loved animals, especially cats. She liked keeping her mind sharp by doing word searches and playing other games with family and friends. She and Ron enjoyed working in their flower garden and occasionally would take a day trip drive to get out.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, Vada is survived by two children, Robert (Deb) Jenney of Findlay and Shari (Tim) Miller of Bucyrus; four grandchildren, Rachel, Rebekah and Riker Jenney and Colin Miller; one sister, Ruth (Don) Saffell of Bucyrus; many nieces and nephews as well as special friends, "Skip" and Betty Abnett of Nevada.

Vada is preceded in death by a brother, John A. Messerschmidt, Jr.; three sisters, infant Martha, Mary Ellen Rogers-Crokie and Violet Jane Stein and one nephew.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30 and Thursday one hour prior to the funeral which will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Wise Funeral Service with Bernard Furry and David Kieffer officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family to be distributed to multiple charities. These gifts may be given through the funeral home.
