Tony R. Gulley

Tony Ray Gulley, 56, of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.



He was born May 2, 1959 in Bucyrus to the late Everett “Pete” and Lillie (Bloomfield) Gulley. As a child, Tony cherished time spent with his grandparents, Dorothy and Harry Bloomfield, as they became a second home for many family members while parents worked.



Tony attended Bucyrus High School and in 1979 he and his brother Rick formed Gulley’s Drywall, a business responsible for many quality homes throughout the area. He will be remembered as a “top flight” finisher.



Tony was set up on a blind date with Robin R. Baker and eventually, after countless floral deliveries to her home, she saw what a wonderful man he was and the two were married on October 1, 1988. They traveled when the opportunity arose during the early years of marriage and when they decided to start a family, they devoted their time to their twin boys and the many sporting events that followed.



Tony enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially when they involved his family. He played some golf but fishing and hunting with his sons made him smile the most and there was always time for a poker game with friends. He was considered a prankster, and sometimes a little rough around the edges, but Tony believed in helping others when they were in need. The family enjoyed camping at the KOA in Shelby every summer since the boys were little and there were many evenings spent sitting around a campfire with family and friends at their home.



In addition to wife, Robin, Tony is survived by his sons, Dylan R. Gulley and Logan E. Gulley; two brothers, Rick (Susan) Gulley and Kevin (Nancy) Gulley as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents as well as his sister, Regina “Tina” Gulley.



Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, April 24 at Wise Funeral Service where his funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Rev. JC Church officiating. Private burial will be held on a later date.



Because of Tony’s love of the outdoors, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be given to Friends of the Crawford Park District and these gifts may be given through the funeral home.
