Todd C. Leuthold

Todd Charles Leuthold, 54, fought a courageous year-long battle against cancer and on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 while in the presence of his parents, wife and children, passed at his residence.

He was born May 28, 1963 in Bucyrus where he spent most of his life. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1981. Todd joined the US Marine Corps and was stationed in Japan. Following his service time, Todd spent several years working at Baja and Swan.

His passion was music and Todd was a very talented and exceptional musician. He taught himself to play guitar and did so by simply listening to what he heard. He was a stranger to no instrument, but he mostly played guitar and, for the past 40 years, he’s performed in various bands with musicians throughout the central Ohio area. Todd’s love of music was certainly evident to his family as, when not on-stage performing, he could often be heard creating funny lyrics about the lives of those he loved or merely playing and singing a song for his children and grandchildren. What was important to Todd and he’d want others to take from his life is to be a selfless person. Todd would be the first to text “happy birthday” or hold the door for someone and he always did for others without expecting anything in return.

He is deeply loved and missed by his parents, Dwight and Sandi Leuthold; wife of 30 years, Jody; children, Tawny and Darin Kellogg, Jude and Carmen Leuthold; grandsons, Gavin, Leyton, and Rowan Kellogg; brother, Dean Leuthold; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Steve Butcher and Tanya and Brian Hewitt; brother-in-law, Jeff Dutcher; nieces and nephews, Katelynn Butcher, Stephen Butcher, Cain Leuthold, Dylan Harris, Lauren Butcher, Cami Hewitt, and Lexi Hewitt; along with many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His loving family who welcomed him in Heaven are his grandparents, Cebern and Nellie Adkins, Paul and Lulu Leuthold, Glen and Ruth Rettig, and Charles McSweeney; his biological father, David Rettig; and mother-in-law, Linda (Lash) Dutcher.

Todd’s family will receive friends from 2-6 pm Saturday, February 3 at Wise Funeral Service. The evening will conclude with a prayer by Pastor Mike Corwin and funeral honors by the US Marine Honor Guard.

Those wishing to acknowledge his loss are encouraged to do a kind deed for someone. Todd’s family was his top priority and there were also a couple of organizations close to his heart, therefore donations can be made payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Ronald McDonald House or to his wife, Jody who will use any money to benefit their children. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home.
