Timothy A. Johns

Aaaarrrrgggghhhh! The pirate at heart, Tim Johns, 40, set sail on August 6, 2013 following his unexpected death at his home in Rhode Island.

The Buccaneer was born April 26, 1973 in Lafayette, Indiana to Ira R. and Linda D. (Nichols) Johns and from early childhood he had a grin which many times saved him from the hempen halter. Tim graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1991 and while in school, was active in track, cross country and wrestling. Tim also played football for a year and served as president of student council his senior year. Most importantly, he formed and maintained many, many close friendships.

Following high school Tim enlisted with the US Army and proudly served his country for four years. Part of that time, he was stationed in Savanna, Georgia which is where he met Katie Arnold and following his honorable discharge from the service, they got married and had two children who survive, Owen and McKayla Johns.

The lad began culinary school in Savanna and finished in Scottsdale, Arizona. From there he served an apprenticeship in Santa Rosa, California before moving to Rhode Island. Now, an Old Salt, Tim had a part in establishing McKinley's Authentic Irish Pub and worked there as a cook, bartender and occasionally enjoyed their rum.

Tim loved spending time with his children. He was knowledgeable about reptiles and put it to use by teaching his kids and their fellow students with trips to their school. His hobby and life was cooking and he specialized in fish and seafood. When he had the chance, he enjoyed hanging out at the beach and Tim had a big heart for animals, especially his pets, Pepper and Maxwell.

Tim is also survived by many shipmates, his brothers, Charles Edward (Michele) Johns of Bucyrus, Shawn (Dana) Johns of Kenton and Michael Johns of Bucyrus; one sister, Kelly (Jeff) Buckley of Bucyrus; five nephews, Eric Johns, Dustin Johns, Nathan Johns, Camron Johns and Jeremiah Buckley; one niece, Brieann Johns; one great-niece, Aleah Rice; a special aunt, Sharon Wagner and a special cousin, Deb Sandoz and her daughter, Jaimee Hayes. In addition to so many friends.

So Yo Ho Ho, a gathering will be held from 11a.m. – 2 pm Saturday, August 17 at the VFW Post 8999 (across from the golf course) where military rites will be provided at 11:30 a.m. by members of the American Legion Post 181. Family will then splice the mainbrace and share many wonderful memories with all who are present until it is time to weigh anchor and hoist the mizzen.

A fund has been set up to assist Tim's lad and lassie and those donations can be given at the Wise Funeral Service before Saturday or at the VFW during the gathering.
