Thomas E. Creger

Thomas Edwin Creger, 81, died Monday, August 13, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a brief heart related illness.

He was born September 12, 1936 in Nevada to the late Raymond and Mary (Bardon) Creger. Tom was a 1954 graduate of Nevada High School and attended a business college for a short time before being drafted to serve in the US Army. He was stationed at various locations in the US and Canada before his honorable discharge.

On September 15, 1961, he married Carol Ann Christman who survives and along with helping her raise their wonderful family, he worked at Timken for 36 years before retirement. Tom was an active Christian and served as church secretary at the Bucyrus Alliance Church in earlier years. He and Carol worshiped for many years at Gospel Baptist Church, where they enjoyed multiple travel adventures with the senior group. Most recently Tom and Carol have called the Bucyrus Nazarene Church their home and have formed many friendships over their eight years of attendance.

Tom loved time spent with family and he did everything he could to take care of their needs. He liked mowing his lawn and for relaxation, he could often be found at his computer with a cup of coffee. Tom also had a knack for baking and will be remembered for his homemade bread.

In addition to Carol, his wife of nearly 57 years, Tom is survived by his children, Jeff (Carolyn) Tobin of Mt. Vernon, Teresa (Daryl) Wenner of rural Bucyrus, David Creger of Bucyrus and Kevin (Lynn) Creger of rural Bucyrus; two grandchildren, Hillary Suter and Katie (Jason) Kruse as well as two great grandchildren, Addison and Paelyn Horsley who referred to him as PaPa Clean. Tom is also survived by a sister, Helen (Gary) Thomas of California, whom he shared many phone calls with over the years and three sisters-in-law, Gladys Creger, Jeanette Harris and Cindy Christman.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Jane Kissling, Dorothy White and Mary Jo Walter and one brother, Franklin Creger.

Calling hours and funeral for Tom will all take place at the BUCYRUS NAZARENE CHURCH, 2165 St. Rt. 4. His family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, August 17 and his funeral will begin at 10:30 am Saturday with Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery where Military Rites will be provided by the US Army and American Legion Post 181 Honor Guards.

Donations can be made payable to Bucyrus Nazarene Church and will accepted through Wise Funeral Service or at the church on days of services. Memories or expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his Tribute Wall.
