Terry Cooper

Terry A. Cooper, 75, of Bucyrus died Thursday afternoon, June 4, 2015 at Kingston Residence of Marion where he was being cared for in recent weeks.

He was born November 15, 1939 in Bucyrus to the late Stewart and Iva (Sifferlan) Cooper. Terry graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1957. He loved cars and drove a prized ’49 Mercury with the former Wolves Car Club. He made the acquaintance of Nancy Goodwin and they were married April 29, 1961. Terry worked for The Timken Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1999.

Although he gave up the Mercury, he was always meticulous in the care of his vehicles. He also was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, shooting sports and deer hunting. He enjoyed trips where he could take in nature including an Alaskan cruise, Hawaii, Yellowstone, hunting in Colorado, as well as Mackinac Island and the Outer Banks. He participated in buckskinning reenactments and was a gifted woodworker, making tables, shelves and even a sled for his Siberian husky to pull neighborhood children in the winter.

Terry is survived by his bride of 54 years, Nancy Cooper; daughters, Terri (Mark) Murphy of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Amy (John) Cauvel of Crestline; three grandchildren, Mitchell (Melissa) Murphy, Jessica Hill and Joseph Cauvel; one great grandson, Gavin Murphy; brother, Damon Cooper of Bucyrus; nephew, Steve (Tammy) Cooper and niece, Julie (Richard) Ricciardi.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 8 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Pastor Ken Lance of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral from 11-1 and burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
