Suzanne K. Blank

Suzanne K. Blank, 49, of Bucyrus passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday morning, August 27, 2013.

She was born April 13, 1964 in Morristown, New Jersey to the late Dr. Harvey Bird and Violet (Steiner) Bird who survives in Bucyrus. After graduating from Mountain Lakes High School in 1982, Suzanne attended Fairleigh-Dickinson University where she met Patrick Blank, a fellow freshman. They dated throughout college and were married June 14, 1986 after their graduation.

Suzanne became a Registered Nurse and worked at Marion General, Holy Redeemer in Meadowbrook, Penn., Bucyrus Community Hospital and was currently the Wynford Schools nurse. She also was renowned for her restorative work in various churches and homes through their family business from ornamental painting to precise restoration of statuary and Stations of the Cross.

Suzanne will be remembered for her fun, infectious love of life and nature. While others may visit a park or historical site, she took the time to research and immerse herself in history in order to bring the destinations in 46 states to life for her family and friends. An avid photographer, her works won many awards in fairs, shows and contests. Suzanne also loved birthdays and holidays and took pride in theming meals and wardrobes from pink on Valentine's Day to green on St. Patrick's Day and packing over 50 family members into her home for an annual Thanksgiving feast. Her children looked forward to tasting the sweet cereal of their choice and special cupcake every birthday while wondering what new fruit or vegetable would be introduced into their diet every other day of the year.

Suzanne also loved her community where she was active in Nazareth Lutheran Church, Bucyrus Little Theater productions, Bucyrus Historical Society, historic portrayals in Speakeasy tours and Oakwood Cemetery walks, fundraisers for the Crawford County Park District and providing a listening, caring ear to the students she took joy in caring for as their nurse.

Suzanne is survived by Pat, her husband of 27 years; eight children, Sarah, Genevieve, Daniel, David, Anna, Katherine, Emily and Andrew; her mother, Violet Bird; sister, Colleen (Perry) Messina and their children, Michael and Tiffany, of Bozeman, Mont. as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.

The Blank family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service on Saturday, August 31 from 1-4 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1 at Nazareth Lutheran Church, south of Chatfield, with Pastors Tom and Anne Pairan officiating.
