Suzanne E. Hildebrand, 87, of Bucyrus died Sunday morning, May 7, 2017 at Orchard Park Assisted Living where she has resided for the past two years.
She was born February 7, 1930 in Bucyrus to the late Richard H.F. Sprow and Arlene E. (Lohr) Sprow. She graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1948 and was married to Robert E. Hildebrand on July 18, 1950. He preceded her in death in 1971. Sue worked as a nurse’s aide at Bucyrus Community Hospital before going to school to become an LPN. She also spent many years working for various nursing homes before retiring from the county after working at Fairview Manor.
Sue will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother to her beloved family and for spoiling her cocker spaniels. She could be seen about town whether taking in her grandchildren’s ball games or enjoying a shopping trip. Sue was a great cook whose dumplings were enjoyed by many. In earlier years, Sue liked to bowl and was a member of St. John’s UCC in Bucyrus.
She is survived by four children, Greg (Kathy) Hildebrand of Tennessee, Gary (Robin) Hildebrand, Pam Knapp, both of Bucyrus, and Beth (Brett) Cramblett of Galion; five grandchildren, Courtney Hildebrand, Whitney Hildebrand, Bobby Hildebrand, Hannah Hildebrand, and Chris (Amy) Knapp; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband of 21 years, Sue was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lindsey Knapp; son-in-law, Garry Knapp; and brother, Richard Sprow.
Though no public services are being held, you can remember Sue with a memorial donation payable to HomeCare Matters Hospice or the Humane Society Serving Crawford County and given through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Photos and memories can be shared on her Tribute Wall.
