Linda Sue Gallant, 62, of North Robinson died Sunday morning, April 1, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus after serious health issues and living on “borrowed time” for over a month.
She was born on October 30, 1955 in Columbus to the late Virgil Lewis Masters and Emogene (Tackett) Masters who survives in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Sue grew up in rural Shelby with her sister and brother. She went to Plymouth High School and Pioneer JVS, graduating in 1973 after which she joined the Army. She was formerly married to Steven Dale Gallant with whom she had her two children and she worked at GE in Bucyrus until a 1989 work accident caused a disability.
Sue will be remembered as a simple, beautiful, and generous soul who was meticulous in everything she set her mind to doing. A lifelong learner and avid reader, she studied the arts and English at Shawnee State University and at one time aspired to be a teacher. She was very detail oriented and this came through in her craftwork including pottery, ceramics, wood crafts, crochet, and needlepoint. She was also very handy with repairs and willing to help friends who needed her. A caring “Nana” to her grandchildren, she was always there to lend a hand and offer helpful advice. When she was younger, Sue enjoyed camping, fishing, and motorcycle rides and she liked to reminisce about her opportunities to travel, especially the western states. She was a big movie buff, especially old westerns and pictures starring Shirley Temple.
In addition to her mother and former husband, Sue is survived by her children, Jason Gallant of Galion and Jennifer Scribner of North Robinson; seven grandchildren, Aleasha Scribner, Taylor Gallant, Logan Lane, Haley Gallant, Brooke Gallant, Blake Scribner, and Bryce Scribner; one great grandchild, Arianna with another expected in July; six step grandchildren and families; and her brother, Bub Masters of Ashland, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her father and her sister, Jean Watson.
Sue’s funeral will be held at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. in Bucyrus on Saturday, April 7 at 1:00 pm with her nephew, Pastor Joe Watson officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:00 am-12:55 pm. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Donations to Wise Funeral Service to help with expenses will be accepted in lieu of flowers and memories and photos are encouraged on Sue’s Tribute Wall.
