Sue Ellen Flower

Sue Flower, 82, of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly at her residence on Sunday, March 9, 2025 as result of failing health.

She was born December 1, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Claude Edwin and Lavora Lucille (Burke) Foltz. Sue graduated from North High School in Wichita and attended Kansas University where she excelled at playing the violin and performed in the symphony orchestra. She got married and cared for her family as a homemaker until her children were a little older, at which time she focused on becoming an LPN. Once obtained, she cared for residents mainly at Terrace Gardens in Wichita until the early 1990s, retiring only due to her decline in health.

Sue had been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and also enjoyed years of performing with her mother and daughter as part of the “Three Gs”, a trio who performed in front of various audiences. They consist of piano, violin and oboe.

Sue was a caring mother and grandmother, who sacrificed for those she loved. She proudly served as a Den Mother while her son was in Scouts and enjoyed following her grandchildren with their ballgames and events. Their family did a lot of fishing over the years and Sue spent countless hours researching her family origins through the study of genealogy. This love also led to many travels to areas which assisted her research. She found relaxation in music as well as reading, and over the years, Sue enjoyed the companionship offered by her various kitty cats, most recently, Krissy.

Sue is survived by four children, Sean (Michelle) Mullin, Shanna (Philip) Bays, Chris Mullin, and Ellen Flower; nine grandchildren, Brent Mullin, Jarrod Mullin, Caitlyn (Robert) Dorsey, Philip Bays, Nickolus Bays, Madelyn Mullin, Denzil Smith, Ocean Smith and Sebastian Smith; and three great grandchildren, Nevaeh Mullin, Eli Buckner and Kyla Bays.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her brother, Claude Foltz and a granddaughter, Addie Smith.

Sue was appreciative of her friendships formed while recently living at Kettle Run in Bucyrus, Ohio and several years ago around 1970, she lived in Alpine, Arizona, near Crow Poison. This was a beautiful and special place to Sue and following her cremation, she will be returning to that special place.

If desired, donations can be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County and these gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook at www.wisefuneral.com.
