Shirley Ann Wilburn, 79, died peacefully, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Altercare of Bucyrus.
She was born in Bucyrus on April 29, 1937 to the late Harold and Evelyn (Downing) Ream. Her uncle introduced her to William J. Wilburn who she married June 12, 1954. Bill preceded her in death September 1, 2013. Shirley worked as a homemaker, at Checkmate Boats for five years and at Baja Boats for 25 years where she retired as a supervisor.
Shirley sacrificed many things for her family and always put them first. There were many summers spent in the garden followed by canning what they grew. She enjoyed cooking a good meal, with her pan-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and endives being a family favorite. She spent years watching and caring for her grandchildren and she loved all of them dearly. Shirley was always a good-hearted lady and a born again Christian, worshiping at the Bucyrus Nazarene Church. She rarely missed her daily walk, which sometimes took her by the ice cream shop for her favorite banana split and she always enjoyed a car ride with her husband Bill or sitting on their porch swing watching nature.
Shirley is survived by six children, Bill (Lori) Wilburn, Becky (Jim) Nickelson, Brenda Pace and fiancé, Jeff Dunn, Pam (Mark) Williamson, Brad Wilburn and special friend, Sheila Massey-Nickum, and Doug Wilburn and special friend, Tonya Rupp; 18 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Connie) Ream; sister, Patty Bauer; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 59 years and both parents, she was preceded in death by brother, David Ream and sister, Margie Shumaker.
The Wilburn family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 7 from 5-8 pm. Her funeral will be on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Bucyrus Nazarene Church with
Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow in Lust Cemetery, south of Chatfield.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church through the funeral home.
