Sherry E. Wagner

Sherry Elaine Wagner, 76, of Bucyrus, died Monday, October 30, 2023 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital following a brief illness.

Sherry was born February 27, 1947 in Bucyrus to the late Leonard and Martha (Parcher) Daniel and was a 1965 graduate of Wynford High School. She met Larry Lee Wagner who was working at an auto repair shop in Upper Sandusky, and though her radio never seemed to be broken, she kept having him look it over. Following a brief courtship, they married on April 19, 1969, and shared 54 joyful years of marriage.

Sherry spent a period of about 10 years working at Timken until it was time to raise her two sons. She loved and cared for their every need and as they grew older and became more active in school, she headed back to Timken on a part-time basis. Sherry next took a position at AO Smith in Upper Sandusky and concluded her work career at Baja.  She was proud to have been a 4-H Advisor and served area youth for 10 years.

Sherry was a selfless individual who would do anything for those she loved. She kept a clean home and cooked amazing meals. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she was sure to spoil those nearest to her heart. Her presents wrapped were flawless and she received great joy in decorating the tree. All while listening to Christmas records. When it came to preparing the holiday meals, the selection of food and desserts seemed endless, and no one left hungry. A talented seamstress, Sherry repaired countless outfits and created some beautiful curtains and window hangings for their home. She and Larry tended to a rather large garden, which spanned a great portion of their property. This made for many well-rounded meals and a lot of canned vegetables for future use. The family owned a boat, which meant many weekends trips to Lake Erie to fish for perch and walleye.  Larry and Chad enjoyed deer hunting and any time game was brought home, Sherry was there to help process. For relaxation, Sherry loved feeding and watching the hummingbirds fly around and she also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. She cherished the companionship offered by her various pet dogs and parakeets owned over the years and on weekdays from 12:30 to 4 pm, she preferred quietness, as her TV was reserved for her soap operas.

She will be missed by her husband, Larry; two sons, Kevin Wagner and Chad (Charity) Wagner; two grandchildren, ChayLinn (Nicholas Jeffrey), and Chayde Wagner; two great grandchildren, Canik and Creed Jeffrey and a brother, Marvin (Beverly) Daniel.

Sherry was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Daniel.

Calling hours for Sherry will take place from 5 – 7 pm Thursday, November 2 at Wise Funeral Service and she will be privately laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made payable to the Humane Society serving Crawford County and will be accepted through the funeral home.
