Sherry L. Lohr, 42, of Mansfield and originally from Bucyrus passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after recently falling ill.
She was born December 13, 1974 in Galion to Carl Lohr Sr. and Barbara (Aurand) Lohr who both survive. Sherry graduated from Wynford High School and, after working in daycare for a few years, she enlisted in the US Air Force in 1996. She reenlisted in 2000 and served until her honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 2004. Her time in the Air Force took her to several posts in the US as well as Italy, Saudi Arabia and other points in the Middle East. After her service, she lived in Missouri before returning to Ohio.
She worked as a social worker for a time and loved every moment she got to spend with her family, especially her beloved nieces and nephews. She enjoyed reading, spending time outdoors taking in nature while hiking, and the company of her dogs, Diego and the late Sedona.
In addition to her parents, Sherry is survived by her partner, Shannon Sack; three siblings, Carl (Jenny) Lohr Jr., Emily Goin (fiancé Tim Detillion), and Heather (Eddie) Burton. Aunt Sherry will be missed by nieces and nephews, Tosha (Rian) Greene, Michael (Katie) Lohr, Cherokee (Mike) Shuster, Jordan & Jacob Messmer, Cheyanne Goin, and Shelby, Arryanna, Carlee, Deacon, and Blake Burton; and her beautiful great nieces and nephews, Payton, Brandon, Matthew, Aaliyah, Arian, Lillyanna, and Clayton.
Sherry’s family will host a memorial service on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 pm at the Bucyrus Freewill Baptist Church which will conclude with military honors by the US Air Force Honor Guard. They will receive friends at a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
