Sharon Mae Young, 71, of Bucyrus moved to her Heavenly home Sunday afternoon, March 16, 2014 at her residence after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Bucyrus on January 12, 1943, she was one of 11 children of the late Perry and Florence (Green) Miller and she graduated from Holmes-Liberty High School in 1961.
Sharon worked hard to provide for her family and teach them to live by the Golden Rule, love the Lord, always get along with others and never hold grudges. Most of her working years were spent at Honey Creek in Wyandot. She always liked candles and had them in her home so it was fitting, after Honey Creek’s closure, that she got a job as a candle wicker at Crossroads Original Designs where she appreciated the love her co-workers showed her. Sharon had a strong faith in God and attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union in Bucyrus.
She will be remembered as a caring and concerned mother who always put her kids first. A good cook, her children loved her Sloppy Joes and Johnny Marzetti. Sharon liked “going places,” enjoyed summer vacations and holiday picnics at the lake, going to Amish Country with her sister and reminiscing and laughing over a cup of coffee with her friends. Never one to pass up sweets, there were always candy or snacks at hand if Sharon was around.
Sharon is survived by her children, Sherry Jividen of Bucyrus, John Edward (Rina) Young, Jr. of Henderson, Nev., and Wayland (Jodi) Young of Bucyrus; one granddaughter, Emily Young; four brothers, Dale (Donna) Miller, Marvin Miller, Lyle (Karen) Miller and Darle (Diana) Miller; six sisters, Gladys (Kenny) Wolf, Wilma (Marvin) Swart, Marlene (Clair) Saltzman, Norma “Jane” Miller, Evelyn Miller and Dolores Brown; numerous nieces and nephews and her second families at church and work.
Sharon’s family will receive friends on Thursday, March 20 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m in the Bucyrus Church of Christ in Christian Union, 521 Kaler Ave., with Pastors George Lore, Jr. and Bob Jividen officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.
Those wishing to make memorial donations are encouraged to give to James Cancer Hospital or Homecare Matters Hospice through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be shared in the Memorial Guestbook below.
