Sandra A. Monroe, 78, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at her home after a lengthy illness.



She was born November 22, 1938 in Woodsfield, Ohio but grew up in the area and attended Bucyrus Schools. Sandra spent many years helping her father at McCall’s, their family restaurant, where she met Arden Monroe who was selling ads. They hit it off and on January 8, 1955 they married and shared nearly 50 years of marriage before his death in 2004.

Sandra worked at Timken and G.E. for a few years and also served many customers as a waitress in various restaurants, including L&K, Brown Derby, and The Pub (when they served food). She finished her work career with Fischer Hardware.



Sandra was a longtime member of the Lincoln Ave. Church of Christ. She enjoyed gathering with family, especially at reunions which spread throughout the area. There were many laughs and good times shared while playing various card games and she could often be found at garage sales. She enjoyed gathering with classmates for their monthly dinner and she always enjoyed time spent in front of the TV watching one of her many favorite shows.



Sandra is survived by two children, Rick and wife, Robin Monroe of Shelby and Terry Monroe and partner, Robin Castillo of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jason Monroe and fiancée, Abby Yardley, Halsy (Andy) Paxton, Taylor Monroe, and Chad Monroe; eight great grandchildren, Alura Monroe, Nora, Delia, and Declan Paxton, Brooke and Logan Monroe, Lily Yardley, and Braxton Monroe; along with one great-great grandson, Parker. Sandra felt blessed to have spent time with her five nieces, Pam Fraizer, Tammy (Bill) Hanson, Debbie Goodson, Janie Horner (deceased), and Julie Keith who is deceased with her husband Jim surviving. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Carol Frost, Rosie (Dave) Ritzler, and Glady Markley.



Sandra was also preceded in death by three siblings, Bobby Ray McCall (infancy), Richard E. McCall, and Jo Ann Fortney; two sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.



Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday, December 27 at Wise Funeral Service where her funeral will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday with Minister Don Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.



Memorial contributions can be made payable to the Lincoln Ave. Church of Christ and given through the funeral home. Memories are encouraged to be shared on her Tribute Wall.
