Ruth M. Johnson

Ruth M. Johnson, 89, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at her residence surrounded by family.

She was born September 29, 1921 in Pulaski County, Kentucky to the late Marshall and Edna E. (Grammer) Ard. She attended school in Kentucky and on August 26, 1938 she married Rufus W. Johnson who preceded her in death on December 22, 1965.

While living in Kentucky she was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. She moved to the Bucyrus area in the mid 1950's and attended church at Our Master's Chapel in Benton. Ruth was a wonderful and loving mother who cared for her family as a homemaker and also worked at Conley's until her retirement.

She is survived by her greatest accomplishments which include, her six children, Donald (Darlene) Johnson of Bucyrus, Delbert (Pam) Johnson of Nevada, Brenda (Tom) Cuffman of Bucyrus, Diane (Richard) Logsdon of Marion, Connie (Rusty) Akers of Bucyrus and Cathy (Bill) Thom of Bloomville; 17 grandchildren, Dawn Wilhelm, Terri Smoot, June Feeley, Troy Johnson, Shannon Johnson, Ryan Zellner, Mistii Zimmerman, Tony Larick, Tanya Lewis, Todd Larick, Justin Logsdon, Shawn Vance, Josh Schifer, Jared Schifer, Chadd Weisenauer, Brandon Weisenauer and Nicole Trott; 26 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Terrell (Dorothy) Ard of Nevada; one sister, Maxine Johnson of Somerset, Kentucky along with two special nieces, Patti Hoepf and Diane Hicks.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her special friend of 22 years, Gerald Presler; a son-in-law, James S. Vance; a brother, Ethard and four sisters, Thelma, Ellar, Dorothy and Cathern.

Ruth loved her morning coffee, keeping things neat and tidy but her greatest love was her family, and she will truly be missed.

Her family will receive friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Nationwide Children's Hospital or to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
