Ruth Irene Miller

Ruth Irene Miller, 99, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

She was born September 2, 1921 in Wyandot County to the late Ralph and Leora (Johnson) Everhart. Ruth graduated from Sycamore High School and in 1944 married Marion D. Miller. He preceded her in death in 2007.

Ruth, along with her husband, Marion owned and operated Miller’s Drive In Bellevue, Piqua, and Bucyrus from 1947 to 1978. She was the person responsible for preparing and cooking their customer favorites. The business has been successfully operated by her son and daughter-in-law, and currently now her grandson Trent.

Ruth was a strong and independent lady, whose mind was as sharp at 99 as when she was younger, and she often knew when to share advice with others as to be helpful. She was a member of Bucyrus UMC and was formerly active at Grace UMC where she was a member of the Women’s Circle and assisted with church meals.

Ruth cleared her schedule to follow the Indians, Cavs, Browns or Buckeyes and some of her bigger hobbies were sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting and certainly reading on a daily basis. She spent countless hours tending to her variety of vegetables in her garden, which allowed her to always eat something healthy and fresh.

Ruth always enjoyed knowing her family was well and she gratefully cherished time spent with each of them throughout her life. She will be missed by her children, Debra Zollinger, Marna (Steve) Dobbins and Gary (Jill) Miller; three grandchildren, Amber (Ryan Reed) Dobbins, Angie Shaffer and her daughter Tristen and Trent (Missy Cline) Miller and their son, Abram. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Helen Everhart.

She was preceded in death a sister, Vera Belle Wentz; two brothers, Gail Everhart, Lawrence Everhart and a son-in-law, Ronald Zollinger.

Her family will celebrate her life privately and she will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Donations can be made payable to Bucyrus UMC and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service. Memories are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall at www.wisefuneral.com.
