Ruth A. Deitler

Ruth A. Deitler, 91, of Bucyrus, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Altercare of Bucyrus after several months of declining health.



She was born in Bucyrus on August 7, 1924 to the late Vincent Andrew and Frances (Thiry) Kronenberger. She attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1942. She met William Franklin Deitler after his return from the service and they were married October 29, 1949. Bill and Ruth spent many wonderful evenings with “The Club” of friends playing cards and they loved time with their grandchildren. He preceded her in death February 2, 2015.



Ruth will be remembered as a hard working homemaker and excellent baker whose cookies were enjoyed at countless parties and fund raisers. She worked in food service for Bucyrus City Schools with her friend, Ruthie Lady Pollock and the two still got together on Tuesdays for “Ruth and Ruthie Day” enjoying a meal, long drives and great conversation. She was an avid OSU football fan and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served on the Rosary Altar Society.



Ruth is survived by her children, Matthew H. Deitler and Marianne (Ronald) Markley both of Bucyrus; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Markley, Amy (Chad) Durham, Michelle Markley, Sarah Markley, Tim Markley and Stephanie Deitler along with several great grandchildren, who knew her as “GG”, and nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents and husband of 65 years, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Richard and Thomas Kronenberger, Eleanor Campbell, and two infant brothers.



Friends may call from 6-8 pm Wednesday, January 13 at Wise Funeral Service where a Rosary service will conclude the evening. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. John Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
