Ronald E. Wheeler

Ronald Eugene Wheeler, 72, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at Knox Community hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. His son and daughter were by his side.

He was born November 20, 1950 to his late mother, Norma Jean Hazel and late father, Lawrence Jay Wheeler. Ron graduated from New Washington high school in New Washington, IN. After high school he enlisted in the Army and fought in the Vietnam war. He served for four years. After Vietnam he moved to San Diego, CA where he met, Brenda Gelinas his former wife. They then moved to Bucyrus, OH where Ron owned the Kentucky Fried Chicken for many years and shared raising his children. Once he sold his restaurant he moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where he loved walks on the beach and doing maintenance work for his apartment complex. After 10 years he decided to move back to Ohio to be close to his family.

He enjoyed all things sports, boating, camping, NASCAR, the beach and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. There is no doubt he lived life to the fullest and met many great people along the way.

Ron is survived by his children, Travis (Desirée) Wheeler and Brianna (Jake) Lindgren; three grandchildren, Gabriel, Zayleigh, Jane and one on the way, Josephine; brothers Larry (Esther) Wheeler and Mike (Sharon) Wheeler and his former wife Brenda Gelinas. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 12 – 3 pm Monday, December 26 at Baker’s Pizza Sports Shack, 224 N. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus, Ohio.
