Roland "Ron" France

Roland D. France, better known as Ron, 61, of Bucyrus passed early Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Bucyrus Community Hospital, ending a long battle with COPD and other illnesses.



He was born in Bucyrus on September 27, 1955 to the late Robert C. and Rita P. (Smith) France. Childhood was spent helping at the family’s roller-skating rink and trying to keep up with his older brothers. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1973. He could be seen about town enjoying meals, often at the Bucyrus Diner, area festivals and car shows.



Ronnie loved spending time outdoors fishing and camping with family and friends. He loved singing and enjoyed the friends he made on the karaoke circuit. He was a kind soul who enjoyed growing out and donating his hair to Wigs For Kids. His giving nature was also carried on in death as a donor through Lifeline of Ohio. His favorite holiday traditions were Christmas activities with the entire family and spending the Fourth of July at the Marion fairgrounds and later from his camper at Candlewood. Ron was an avid Steelers fan and always willing to find an opposing view to anyone up for a good argument.



He is survived by three children, Michael France, Michelle (Ryan) Kalnins, and Rita France; grandchildren, Brian, Patrick, and Zayden; siblings, Bob (Sue) France Jr., Bernie France (Terri Hamilton), Margaret Wilson, Kathleen (Kevin) Woods, and Ray (Patty) France; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Anita France and brother-in-law, Jim Wilson.



Ron's family will celebrate his life with a Memorial Service on Saturday, June 10 at 4:00 pm at Wise Funeral Service where they will receive friends two hours prior from 2-4 pm.
