Robert A. Lutz, 73, of Chatfield died Sunday morning, June 1, 2014 at his home after battling cancer since 2008.
He was born January 24, 1941 in Bloomville, Ohio to the late Wilbur F. Lutz and Ada Bell (Homler) Lutz. He attended school in Chatfield before moving with his mother to Huntsville, Ala. where he graduated from Butler High School. Upon graduation, Robert returned to Crawford County where he helped his father with the family farm while working at The Timken Company. In addition, he served his country in the National Guard for 6 years. At Timken he met his second wife, Linda, in 1981. Robert and Linda were married September 30, 1983. After working at Timken for 34 years, Robert retired and purchased a semi and drove independently as well as for Karl’s Trucking.
Robert enjoyed working with his hands and could always be found restoring cars, gardening, and working around his home. Robert had a big heart and was willing to help anyone with a project. Being a craftsman, Robert was a resource and a role model for many with his extensive knowledge.
Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda; four children, Traci (Mike) Mignery, Travis (Monica) Lutz, Nicole (Randy) Diller and Nathan Lutz; nine grandchildren, Mackenzie, Taylor, Casey, Tyler, Justin, Jalynn, Sydney, Madylynn and Ellynn; sister, Idonna Gregg; stepbrother, Lloyd (Linda) Heinle; and sister-in-law, Karen Lutz.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his stepmother, Hazel E. Lutz; brother, James W. Lutz; sisters, Gwendolyn Lowery and Peggy Sue Shannon; and brothers-in-law, Dick Gregg and Denver Lowery.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Wise Funeral Service with Randy Diller officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 4 from 6-8 p.m. or Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 1:30.
