James Monroe Shifflet, 70, better known as Rick, died Thursday, September 19, 2019 at his home following an apparent heart attack.
He was born April 11, 1949 in Marion to the late James F and Jaclyn M. (Lahr) Shifflet. On February 12, 1971 he married, Roberta “Birdie” Weiler and she survives.
Rick worked at National Can in Marion for many years and he and Birdie, owned and operated Southland Drive Thru from the 1980s into the 90s. Rick will be remembered for his love of hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working with youth at the Crawford County Conservation League and served on their board of directors. Rick was also a member of the Bucyrus Moose Lodge.
In addition to Birdie, his wife of 48 years, Rick is survived by a son, Rick (Sarah) Shifflet of Columbus and his granddaughter, Sienna.
Though no public services will be held, if friends wish, donations can be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service.
