Richard A. Wolfe, 89, went home to be with his Savior Thursday night, August 11, 2022 under the care of his family and Kindred Hospice.
He was born November 21, 1932 in Marion to the late Herbert and Nita (Whitcum) Wolfe. After graduating from Marion Harding High School, Richard served in the US Army with three tours into the Korean Conflict. Like his father and sister, Richard was a printer. He was asked to join the home office of Ohio Mutual Insurance Group as their full-time print shop manager. After retirement, he continued to help at Quality Printing well into his 80s. Richard married Marlene Callahan on April 20, 1957 and she survives.
Richard will be remembered for his kindness and helping nature. His day was made when he was helping others. Richard was a born-again believer of Jesus Christ. He was an avid reader of his Bible and Bible studies, taught Sunday School for many years, and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. At home, he kept everything in good repair, played Ping Pong when younger, and did a lot of reading. He and Marlene enjoyed winter visits to Florida and relaxing at vacations in Lakeside during the summer.
Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marlene Wolfe; daughters, Cheryl (Craig) Martin, Lisa (Greg) Ratcliff, and Sheri Wolfe; grandchildren, Keith (Courtney) Martin, Tim (Olivia) Ratcliff, and Heather (Alex) Moore; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Gilbert.
The Wolfe family will join friends for his graveside funeral in Monnett Chapel Cemetery, 999 State Route 98, Bucyrus on Monday, August 15 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bill Wert officiating. Military Rites will be presented by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
Memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to Lighthouse Baptist Church or Kindred Hospice and given at the service or Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Memories and photos can be shared on Richard’s Tribute Wall.
