Regis Robert Jones, 88, of Bucyrus, died Monday, March 6, 2017 at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.



He was born December 24, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Regis William and Wilhelmina (Riedel) Jones. He graduated from Warren Consolidated High School, Tiltonsville, Ohio; Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and Cleveland-Marshall Law School. He worked as a casualty claims adjuster prior to establishing his law practice in Bucyrus where he served many clients for 50 years before retiring in 2002.



Regis served with the 11th Airborne in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Austria. He was honorably discharged and on May 26, 1962 he married Mary F. Keppler who survives. Church was a very important part of his life. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Regis enjoyed time spent with family and keeping up to date on any political happenings. He was a member of the Crawford County Bar Association and served on the Crawford County Community Counseling board as well as various other boards over the years. Regis was also a member of American Legion Post 181.



In addition to Mary, his wife of nearly 55 years, Regis is survived by five children, Regis W. (Cindy) Jones of rural Bucyrus, Candace M. (Roy Thetford) Jones of New York City, Wilma A. Jones of Upper Sandusky, Jacqueline K. (Nathaniel) Barnes of Tampa, Florida and Matthew Jones of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Kaitlin Jones, Madeline Jones, Nichole Langmeyer, Traci Young, Baley Thetford, Collette Cook, Emma Barnes, Lillian Barnes and Jacob Jones; five great grandchildren; one brother, Robert E. Jones of Michigan; one sister, Barbara M. Baker of California; and sister-in-law, Janis Keppler of Bucyrus.



Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 8 at Wise Funeral Service. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Paul A. Fahrbach as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Army and American Legion, Post 181 Honor Guards.



Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Church through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his Tribute Wall.
