Raymond D. Markley, 82, of Bucyrus, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.
He was born February 23, 1931 in Fostoria to the late Raymond and Lucille (Walters) Markley and was a 1949 graduate of Nevada High School. On July 19, 1952 Raymond married Charlene H. Francis who survives.
Raymond worked at Komatsu Dresser for 41 years before he retired. He lived by the "golden rule" and he enjoyed spending time with family. Raymond was an outgoing and friendly man who loved striking up conversations with people. Whether at auctions, visiting family or enjoying his daily breakfast with Charlene at Arby's, Raymond knew no strangers. He loved fishing locally as well as Lake Erie and when he didn't have a fishing pole in his hand or chatting with someone at a sale, he could be found at home tinkering around with cars, appliances or lawn mowers.
In addition to Charlene, his wife of nearly 61 years, Raymond is survived by three children, Gary (Judy) Markley of Dayton, Janet (Lanny) Hawkins of Ontario and Lori Markley of Bucyrus; two grandchildren, Nathan Markley of Dayton and Kristin Hawkins of Ontario; three brothers, Alvin (Gladys) Markley of Nevada, Fred (Wanda) Markley of Upper Sandusky and Verl (Sue) Markley of Bucyrus; two sisters, Ellen Johnson of Nevada and Vergene (James) Stuckman of Bucyrus. Raymond is preceded in death by one brother, James Markley.
Raymond loved life and all it stood for. His family will announce a Celebration of Life Service on a later date. If friends wish, contributions may be given to the Ronald McDonald House or a charity of the donor's choice through Wise Funeral Service.
