Ralph Glenn Tomlin

Ralph Glenn Tomlin, 84, of Bucyrus died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center following a recent illness.

Glenn was born September 27, 1928 in Osage, Oklahoma to the late Jack and Stella (Lapp) Tomlin. He grew up in Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle, attending school in Skellytown and White Deer, Texas. He began working in A&P Food Stores where he eventually became a meat cutter. Glenn moved to Ohio for his health and while working at the Bucyrus A&P, he noticed the "prettiest girl in town" every time she came in the store. A mutual friend introduced him to Sue Kibler. They married on January 4, 1952 sharing nearly 60 years of marriage before her death November 25, 2011.

Glenn cut meat when it was still an art, retiring from Foodtown. He and Sue enjoyed visiting flea markets and going to Lake Erie for perch. They hosted cookouts and pool parties and were members of Woodlawn United Methodist Church and Moose Lodge 669. Glenn's passion was doing genealogy research, compiling pages upon pages of information on his ancestors. He will be remembered as an honest man who loved his wife and family. If all dads were like him, the world would be a better place.

Glenn is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Linda Tomlin of rural Bucyrus; three grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Sharp, Ryan (Jesseca) Tomlin both of Bucyrus and Shane (Stacy) Tomlin of Crestview, Fla. and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife Sue, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Ricky Tomlin; daughter, Chelly Staiger; brother, Wayne Tomlin and sister, May Belle Tomlin.

Private funeral services will be held at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor Jim Ellis officiating and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Woodlawn UMC through the funeral home.
