Phyllis Carle

Phyllis E. Carle, 86, of Bucyrus, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at her residence.

She was born April 6, 1927 in Willard to the late Floyd E. and Hazel (Harner) Franklin. As a child, she lived in New London as well as Norwalk before moving to Bucyrus where she graduated from Bucyrus High School. Phyllis was a proper lady who always took pride in keeping her home neat and tidy. She loved baking and cooking meals for her two sons and, after they grew up, she worked for a number of years at Ohio Mutual.

In 1980, she married Robert L. Carle, Sr. and they kept busy traveling in their motor home to places including the Smokey Mountains and Iowa, where they visited family, along with various stops along the way. When not on the road, they enjoyed playing euchre at the American Legion and spent many hours in their vegetable garden. Following Bob’s death in 1997, Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family as well as seeing that her home remained orderly.  She enjoyed her teddy bear collection and was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church and American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her two sons, Dennis F. Wenner of Nashville, Tenn. and Daryl P. Wenner and wife Teresa of Caledonia; one stepson, Robert Carle, Jr. and wife Mary Jo of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren, Tracy McAdams, Hillary Horsley, Katie Kruse, Monica Zender, Shawn Leonhardt, Leslie Gall and Travis Leonhardt; and great grandchildren, Sophi, Emma, Addison, Paelyn, Cole, Carley, Kimmi and Kali. Phyllis is also survived by special friends, Steve and Carlene Leitzy.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, January 12 and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday at Wise Funeral Service where her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday with Pastor Bill Strader officiating. Immediately following the funeral, friends are invited to the First Alliance Church for food and fellowship. Private burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Bucyrus Salvation Army through the funeral home. Online expressions of sympathy may be left at www.wisefuneral.com.
