Pearl M. Harris

Pearl M. Harris, 91, died peacefully Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Carlisle Place in Bucyrus under the care of Gentiva Hospice.

She was born May 6, 1932 in Beallsville, Ohio to the late Lesley and Alta (Taylor) Mobley. After graduating from Beallsville High School in 1950, Pearl worked as a waitress and eventually made her way to Bucyrus where she met Harry “Jim” Harris, and they were married June 28, 1952. They shared 68 years of marriage when he preceded her in death in 2020.

Pearl was a woman of deep faith. She was a charter member of the First Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Bucyrus. Bible studies hosted in the Harris’ Sulphur Springs residence and other homes grew large enough to establish the church. She gave to the church as a deaconess and custodian, but her true passion was the church’s nursery where she devoted much of her time and energy.

Pearl is survived by her son, Michael Harris; daughters, Nancy Miller and Barbara Harris; grandchildren, Heather Miller, Ben (Lyndsee) Miller, and Reva Harris; great grandson, Kaleb Miller; sister, Grace Sell; and brother, Homer Mobley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, David Harris; son-in-law, Bob Miller; and siblings, Jessie Taylor, Herman Mobley, Nelson Mobley, James Mobley, Mary Conway, Freda Phillips, and two infant siblings.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2 from 11 am – 12 Noon, when a brief service will be led by Pastor Rick Maddox. A private interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.

Nancy and family appreciate the wonderful staff at Carlisle Place for all they do every day for their residents, and they are also grateful for the Gentiva Hospice staff for taking such good care of Pearl in her final days.

Memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to Bucyrus Alliance Church and will be used for the nursery ministry. Memories and photos can be shared in the guestbook.
