Patricia J. Morral

Patricia J. Morral, 85, died peacefully with her daughters by her side on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Willows of Willard where she had been receiving care for several months of declining health.

She was born January 19, 1940 in Bucyrus, the only child of the late Fred and Mildred (McCance) Klein. Pat grew up in Upper Sandusky where she graduated from high school in 1958. She was a gifted musician, playing French horn, but chose to pass on a music scholarship to BGSU in order to pursue a nursing career like her mother. She became a Registered Nurse through the Grant Hospital School of Nursing. Pat was an OB nurse at Bucyrus Community Hospital for over 30 years, retiring when the OB unit closed. She continued to serve as a caretaker well into retirement and looked forward to first Thursday reunions with fellow BCH retirees at Pelican Coffee House. Pat married Gene Morral on April 14, 1961, sharing nearly 46 years of marriage when Gene preceded her in death on March 19, 2007.

Remembered for her no-nonsense, straight talk, Pat was not afraid to speak her mind and let you know how she felt. She and Gene enjoyed being winter residents in Mesa, Arizona but always returned to Ohio by May 1 in order not to miss any of the grandchildren’s birthdays, tend to her flower beds, mow the grass, and see that the “hummers” were well fed. She was a gifted seamstress, crafter, and cook. She also had the unique gift of not letting little setbacks get to her as “It is what it is” was the advice she lived out and shared the most.

Pat took to farm life very well as she and Gene moved to the country and established Windy Ridge Pheasant Farm. Fiercely independent, Pat didn’t crumble when Gene passed, rather she continued living life to the fullest. In her 70s she was on a bowling league, ran a quilters room, regularly could be found calling Bingo, attended the Tournament of Roses Parade and hockey games, followed the Buckeyes, and had monthly “singles” dinners with fellow widows. Pat was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs.

Pat is survived by daughters, Michele (Rusty) Breyley and Susan (Bob) Damschroder; grandchildren, Elizabeth Breyley, Rachel Breyley (fiancé David Beattie), Hannah (Brice) Brenneman, Jennifer (Matt) Dyer, and Alex (Samantha) Damschroder; and great grandchildren, Fiora & Edwin Klak, Lucy & Nora Brenneman, Emmett Dyer, and Josie Damschroder.

On Tuesday, March 18, Pat’s family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus from 3-7 pm at which time, the evening will conclude with The Nightingale Tribute Service by the Ohio Nurse Honor Guard Coalition. On Wednesday, March 19, funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4707 Ridgeton-Annapolis Rd., Sulphur Springs where family will receive friends from 10-10:50 am and the funeral will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Andrea Taphorn officiating. Burial will follow in Sandusky Cemetery.
