Nora M. Widman

Nora M. Widman, 85, of Bucyrus is rejoicing with her Lord after slipping into His care early Friday morning, June 1, 2012 at her residence.

 

She was born September 30, 1926 in Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island, N.J. to the late Daniel B. and Martha L. (Bolton) Johnson-Stewart. Nora attended Beach Haven (N.J.) Elementary School and graduated from Barnegat (N.J.) High School in 1945. That summer, on July 8, 1945, Nora was united in marriage to Ralph W. "Red" Widman, Sr. and they moved to Bucyrus in October of the same year after Red's discharge from the U.S. Navy. He preceded her in death December 12, 1996.

Nora is survived by four children, Ralph W. (Janet) Widman, Jr. of Lynchburg, Ronald A. Widman of Columbus, Timothy M. Widman of Bucyrus and his wife, Kathy, of Worthington, and Marti A. Barnes of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Ryan Widman, Haley Hensley and Carter Widman; great grandson, Owen Widman; siblings, Daniel (Beatrice) Johnson of Ship Bottom, Isaac (Dolores) Johnson and Doris Barnes, both of Manahawkin, N.J. along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband of over 51 years, Nora was preceded in death by her grandson, Ian Andrew Noblit.

Nora worked as a homemaker and enjoyed working with children as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout leader. She was president of the local Women's Aglow and was a member of Bucyrus First Alliance Church where she served as a deaconess.

Per Nora's wishes, she will be cremated with a private inurnment in Oakwood Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at Bucyrus First Alliance Church with Pastor Bill Strader officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Gifts for Yanks or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. in Bucyrus.
