Nellie R. Staiger

Nellie R. Staiger, 74, of Bucyrus died Sunday evening, December 18, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 7, 1937 to the late Walter and Ruth (Hastings) Parcher. Nellie attended North Robinson Schools. She married Jim Staiger on May 9, 1953 and shared 58 years of love and partnership.

Nellie is survived by her children, Timothy (Sandy) Staiger, Jody (Gordon) Grove, Dennis (Debra) Staiger, Rodney (Tina) Staiger, Joy (John) Britton, Jaimie (Kim) Staiger and Dawn (Todd) Kocher; 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ellen Rose Lauthers, Robert Parcher and Raymond Parcher.

Nellie will be remembered as an outgoing, friendly, sociable, affectionate and unselfish person. She worked as a bus driver and cafeteria worker for Col. Crawford schools and loved each student very much. After retirement, she worked for MapleCrest and Fairview Manor Nursing Homes where she made many friends. Nellie loved animals, often taking in strays. Her garden, especially the strawberry patch, was well known among family and friends. Nellie had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Robinson. She maintained friendships with the women of the Carriage to Marriage Mother's Club and was a former CONTACT hotline volunteer. She and Jim also loved to travel. They visited all 50 states, spending only a few months a year for 11 years at home in Ohio. Even while away, she stayed in touch with her family, who were her pride and joy, and their activities.

Nellie's wish was to be cremated and a memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Robinson with Pastor Wilmer Hallman officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Central Ohio through Wise Funeral Service.
