Nellie M. Taylor, 90, of Carlisle Place and formerly of Andrews Road, Bucyrus, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Carlisle Place where she was surrounded by family.
She was born December 26, 1924 in Sumner County, Tennessee to the late Clarence and Rosie (Sandlin) Hudson. She was married November 18, 1940 to James B. Taylor and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1991.
Nellie lived to care for her family and was considered an old-fashioned type of loving mother. She did the cooking and cleaning, but Nellie wanted more for them. She taught her children to pray and prayed with them. She taught them the importance of praying for others. They learned scripture and all the books in the Bible and she instilled how to apply them in their lives. She led by example as a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she was a former Sunday School teacher, Caravan Guide and Past-President of the Nazarene World Missionary Society and sang in the choir. For several years, she also taught Child Evangelism Fellowship classes in her home.
In addition to her spiritual life and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nellie loved working in her flower garden, spent many days boating and fishing and thoroughly enjoyed following her Ohio State Buckeyes.
Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Nova and Tim Ferguson of Sycamore, Ann and Phil Williamson of Chatfield and Rhoda and Tom Redmond of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren, Matt (Kim) Ferguson, Craig (Michelle) Ferguson, Kirk (Jami) Williamson, Mike (Becky) Williamson, Holly (Michael) Christini, Kelly (Chad) Redmon and Jessica (Chad) Kernell; three step-grandchildren, Sheree (Corey) Young, Thad (Danielle) Redmond and Justin Redmond along with 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, May 8 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastors Keith Showalter and Steven Malone officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until the service begins. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
