Ned B. Foght, 80, of Bucyrus went to his Heavenly home following his death which occurred at his residence on Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
He was born July 8, 1931 in Sycamore to the late Bruce D. and Freda (Fike) Foght and on August 14, 1948 he married Iona Patten who survives. Ned was a 1949 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. He began working at the family poultry business while in school and then spent a short time at Swan Rubber before joining his father at B. D. Foght and Son, where Ned spent the next 20 years and worked as a construction foreman. Together, they built 400 plus homes for families in the Crawford County area. Following that, Ned partnered with Elvin Regula and they co-owned Crawford Home Lumber Co. until destroyed by fire in 1969. Ned spent the next 22 years working at Timken before retiring.
Ned was a member of Community Christian Church in Galion where he was a key figure in building their fellowship hall. He was a longtime 32 degree Mason and a member of the Bucyrus Shrine Club. Ned also served as a 4-H Advisor and was a member of the Col. Crawford Booster Club. He bowled in numerous leagues over the years; loved to hunt small game and occasionally did a little fishing and golfing when not helping others with projects. To unwind, Ned would spend time in his woods, cutting and stacking wood or playing with his favorite Jack Russell Whokie who will miss Ned's companionship.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Ned is survived by four children, Peggy A. Hammer and husband Roger of Ft. Myers, Fla., Ed Foght and wife Chris of rural Bucyrus, Patty Foght Seigneur and partner, Jude Kepler of Lewis Center and N. Mike Foght and wife Brenda of rural Bucyrus; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Pixley, David O'Conner, Barry Foght, Jarred Foght, Eric Foght, Scott Seigneur, Patrick Seigneur, Krystal Ross, Misty Rinehart, Amber Truman, Jesse Foght and Brandi Foght; 18 great grandchildren and a half-brother, Douglas "Pete" Foght. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny Foght.
Family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday, February 19 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday with Pastor Daniel Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Community Christian Church; Lifeline Christian Mission or to the Humane Society serving Crawford County through the funeral home.
