Naomi Clady

Naomi R. Clady, 86, of Bucyrus died Wednesday afternoon, December 31, 2014 at Bucyrus Community Hospital where she was being cared for following a recent illness.

She was born July 16, 1928 in Crawford County to the late Garret and Fern (Mollencop) Miller and graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1946. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Telegraph-Forum when she began dating Walter J. Clady who was widowed. They were married August 5, 1956 and, together, operated Clady’s Wallpaper and Paint until their retirement in 1981. Walter preceded her in death November 3, 2001.

Outside of work, Naomi’s love was for her Lord and church. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir and was in the Women’s Guild. It was through the UCC that she became a volunteer at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky where she enjoyed living the past three years. In years past, she and Walter enjoyed traveling on AAA Mystery trips, visiting Florida, the Canary Islands and Europe, often with colleagues in the paint business. Always up for a long ride, Naomi preferred taking back roads over highways and finding knickknacks to add to her collection of varied antiques. She loved the Cleveland Indians and liked watching Antiques Roadshow or American Pickers on TV.

Naomi is survived by her sons, Phil Clady of Golden, Colorado and Randy (Denise) Clady of Bucyrus; two grandsons, Daniel (Lexie) Clady and their daughter, Greta and David (Keda) Clady and their son, Samuel; sister-in-law, Sandra Miller and very special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband of 45 years, Naomi was preceded in death by her sister, Janice (George) Neikirk; brother, John R. Miller and daughter-in-law, Hannah Clady.

Funeral services for Naomi will be held Monday, January 5 at 12 Noon at St. John’s UCC in Bucyrus with Rev. Steven E. Voelker officiating. Her family will receive friends Monday at the church from 10:30 am until the service begins and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
