Nancy Anne Cooper

Nancy A. Cooper, 72, died early Friday, January 24, 2025 at Marion General Hospital after over a year of failing health.

She was born in Toledo on August 20, 1952 to the late Kenneth and Ethel (Christen) Hulme. Nancy graduated in 1970 from Springfield High School where she played trombone in the marching band and was on the yearbook staff. She then attended Owens Technical Institute where she met Timothy L. Cooper of Crawford County. They were married July 29, 1972 and lived in the area until moving to Illinois in 2003.They returned after Tim’s retirement to be near family.

Nancy will be remembered as a loving, passionate, and devout Christian and mother. She had an innate ability to connect well, empathize, and discern people’s needs. She earned a master’s in counseling from Crown College and served a number of churches as secretary. She also volunteered for ministries that served women and children and worked in home health.

Nancy loved the outdoors. Growing up, her father took the family camping throughout his native Michigan with trips to Lake Charlevoix being especially memorable. Nancy had a Master Gardener designation and her flowers and eye for decorating made her homes beautiful.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Tim Cooper; children, Daniel (Carol) Cooper, Matthew Cooper, and Emily Cooper; granddaughter, Alice; brothers, Ken “Butch” Hulme (Sally Cushnie) and David (Judy) Hulme; along with many extended family.

Services will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29 from 5-8 pm and the funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 am with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Nancy will be inurned in the Oakwood Cemetery Columbarium on a later date.
