Myra G. Zornes

Myra G. Zornes, 80, died early Monday, March 31, 2025 at Altercare of Bucyrus.

She was born in Bucyrus on May 2, 1944 to the late Robert E. Miller Sr. and Constance R. (Topper) Miller. Myra was the firstborn and grew up on a family farm near Attica with four younger brothers who pestered her and her dolls to no end. She claimed she wasn’t ticklish as a result of their antics, but she had a full and rich upbringing. After graduating from Attica High School in 1962, Myra moved to Bucyrus where she worked for GE for a short time, raised her family, worked for Aeroglastics, and finished her working career at U-Brand Industries in Upper Sandusky with over 25 years of service.

Myra will be remembered for her faith, caring nature, and love of family and friends. She was an avid reader who also instilled a passion for reading in her children and grandchildren; in fact, "Grammy" devoted much of her time reading to her "rascals.” She enjoyed volunteering with the Bucyrus Elementary School, spending time at the Bucyrus Public Library, and helping the Friends of the Library with their book sales. A devout woman of faith, Myra was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Rosary Altar Society, Red Hats Club, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and enjoyed playing euchre with the Lunch Bunch. Crafting, ceramics, puzzle books, and jigsaw puzzles were some of the many interests that Myra enjoyed. In addition, she treasured moments with friends at card games and on bus trips, and, as a lifelong learner, Myra earned three associates degrees from Marion Tech.

Myra is survived by children, Connie R. Zornes-Padovani (Kenny), Kimberly A. McGowan (David), and Michael V. Zornes; grandchildren, Bethany (Dustin) Sergent, Danica (Cody) Schifer, and Gino Padovani; great grandchildren, Fallon, Bexley, Rowan, and Reese; brothers, James (Dorothy) Miller and Roger (Ruth) Miller; sisters-in-law, Angie Miller and Barb Miller; and her dear friend, Fran Cartwright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Robert Miller Jr. and David Miller and her dear friend, Sharon Fishpaw, with whom she taught the Catholic faith to participants of the RCIA program for many years.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 12 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:55 am and the Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11:00 am with Fr. Paul Fahrbach as celebrant. She will be laid to rest at a private Rite of Committal in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Attica.

Memorial donations can be made payable to Holy Trinity Catholic Church or Friends of the Bucyrus Public Library and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos are encouraged to be shared on the guestbook of Myra’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
