Mona Lee Pentecost

Mona Lee Pentecost, 66 of Bucyrus, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

She was born August 16, 1957, in Marion, Ohio to the late Earsel and Rosalee (Banks) Reid. Mona’s family moved to Woodbridge, Virginia when she was a child. She graduated from Woodbridge High School in 1974.

Mona was employed by multiple companies throughout her career, one position she was proud of was serving as an Admiral’s secretary for the Department of the Navy. In the late 1980s, she met John T. Pentecost, who swept her off her feet. They married in 1990 and shared 11 years of wonderful companionship until his death in 2001.

Mona was a homebody who simply wished for everyone to lead a happy life. She was a wonderful mom, grandma, and great grandma (Mema). Her years spent in Virginia taught her that no one should leave your home hungry, and her family always had the privilege of trying some unique dishes. She was an artistic lady who made countless items out of resin and much of what she crafted became gifts for family and friends. Next to her family, Mona was very proud of her extensive collection of vintage and rare markers.

Mona will be missed by her daughter, Kellie (Joe) Bannister; grandchildren, Michelle, Alyssa, Dylan, and Jordan; great grandchildren, Angeline and Finnley; siblings, Diana Bailey, and Jeffrey (Diane) Tackett, stepbrother, Donald “Donnie” Reid Sr. along with other family and friends. She was preceded in death by niece and nephew, Donald Reid Jr, and Dorothy Marker.

Her family will host a celebration of life gathering from 2 – 6 pm Friday, November 3 at The Union Event and Gathering Space, 130 S. Main St., Marion, Ohio.

Donations will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, to help offset expenses and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook.
