Miriam M. Cooper, 75, of Bucyrus died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Heartland of Bucyrus where she had been cared for over six weeks.
She was born on July 5, 1942 in Bucyrus to the late Reuben and Marie (Fauser) Kalb. She went to Holmes-Liberty where she began dating David N. Cooper. Miriam graduated in 1960 and she and David were married October 15, 1961. After graduation, she worked for People’s Savings and Loan before becoming a homemaker and business owner. She and David began selling produce and apple butter from a picnic table in the front yard in 1969 and then opened Cooper’s Country Market in 1970. In 1989 the market was moved into Bucyrus and was renamed Cooper's Mill. Their work allowed them to travel several places east of the Mississippi attending Roadside Marketing conferences, craft and trade shows. At home, she particularly enjoyed the greenhouse work and interacting with customers.
Miriam was an active member of the Chatfield Evangelical Pietist Church and Farm Council. Her favorite moments were those spent with family, whether attending events or holiday gatherings with Christmas, Fourth of July, and Old-Time Days being the most memorable. She’ll be remembered as a loving, sweet, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Miriam is survived by her husband of 55 years, David Cooper; six children, Mary Ann Cooper, Sharon (Mike) Sparks, Carolyn (Rick) Greter, Dawn Cooper (Minerva Daniels), Sarah Johnson, and Daniel (Michelle) Cooper; 11 grandchildren, Caitlyn, Amanda, Nathan, Andrea, Andrew, Michael, Clayton, Gabriel, Anna, Emmaline, and Maverick; sister, Leona Eichelberger; brother, Paul (Cindy) Kalb; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Ulmer.
The Cooper family will receive friends on Friday, July 14 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Her funeral will be on Saturday at 10:30 am at the Chatfield Evangelical Pietist Church, 3535 Chatfield Center Rd with Pastor Larry Bertsch officiating and burial will follow in Lust Cemetery, south of Chatfield.
