Michelle "Shelley" Maiyer

Michelle L. Maiyer, 52, of Bucyrus, died August 27, 2020 at Avita Bucyrus Hospital. She was born on September 18, 1967 to Mark Studer and Sharon (Spangler) Studer in Crestline. In 1980 her family moved from the country into Bucyrus. She graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1985. Not long after, she met the love of her life, Shawn Maiyer. They got married on May 2, 1992. Throughout the years Shelley worked at many places including most recently Save-a-lot and Spitzer Motors before retiring.

Shelley was a family-oriented woman who always attended events for her loved ones. Whether it be as a loyal band mom to her kids or as a supportive aunt at her niece’s recitals and nephews’ sporting events, she was there. Her pride and joy in life were her two daughters and her two granddaughters. Shelley was known for her love of tie dye and especially her Pink Floyd tie dye shirts. She loved classic rock and attending concerts, her first concert having been in 1978. Shelley was a fan of Nickelback, Pink Floyd, Lord of The Rings, Stephen King books, Disney movies, and enjoyed watching Looney Toons with the girls. When she wasn’t reading, watching all those things, or coloring on her app, she was taking a well-deserved nap. Michelle also enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years; daughters, Brooke (Levi Shaffer) and Amanda Maiyer; grandchildren, Madelynn and Brynlee; brothers Matthew (Sheree) and Aric (Amy) Studer; her father Mark (Bunny) Studer; mother Sharon Studer; grandmother Helen Studer; her niece Reagan; and nephews Dylan and Lucas. Shelley was preceded in death by her grandfather Kenneth Studer.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1 from 4 – 7 pm at Wise Funeral Service where her funeral will be on Wednesday, September 2 at 10:00 am with Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family would like all who attend to honor her by wearing tie dye or your favorite concert shirt. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the Bucyrus Band Parents through Wise Funeral Service at 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. Memories and photos can be shared on Shelley’s tribute wall.
