Michele D. Welge, 53, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following an extended illness.
She was born August 14, 1966 in Bucyrus, Ohio and was a 1984 graduate of Col. Crawford High School. On April 19, 1986, she married, Timothy F. Welge and he survives.
Following high School Shelli earned her LPN from North Central State College; studied to be a Managing Manicurist at Tiffin Academy of Hair Design and completed Technical Education Certificate from the University of Toledo. She cared for patients at Orchard Park, where she was active in daily operations for a few years. She owned and operated her own nail salon for a couple of years, called Bella Nails and she’ll be remembered for her positive impact on student lives through her teaching at Bucyrus High School and substitute teaching at Pioneer. She was a kind and caring individual who put the needs of others ahead of her own; a characteristic we should all follow.
Shelli loved time spent with her family. There were many weekends spent camping at Walnut Grove Campgrounds and she loved taking their RC cars to various places, running them for hours. She was a gifted seamstress who sewed and quilted many gifts for family and friends. Shelli also sewed some pretty cool Halloween costumes for her boys when they were growing up. She was handy in the kitchen and one of the family favorites was her blueberry torts.
Shelli will be deeply missed by her mom, Karen Sue (Poland) Knapp; her loving husband of 34 years, Tim; two sons, Colton Welge and Tracy Welge; two siblings, Tonia (Richard II) Barlow and Richard (Laura) Knapp Jr. as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth R. Pritchard; her second father, Richard L. Knapp Sr. and her sister, Karrie Knapp.
Calling hours will be held from 2-5 pm Sunday, August 16 at Wise Funeral Service. Her body will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery following a private graveside funeral.
Donations can be made payable to the funeral home to assist with expenses and photos and memories are encouraged to be shared on her tribute page.
