Michael Tarbert

Heaven has a special angel shining down on us …..

Michael Myer Tarbert, 57, of Bucyrus was born Oct. 28, 1957 in Zanesville to the late Joy and Bill Tarbert. He slipped peacefully into heaven on Thursday morning, Dec. 11, 2014 at Altercare of Bucyrus.

Michael attended Starlight School in Zanesville, Angeline School in Upper Sandusky and Fairway School in Bucyrus. He was a 39 year employee of Waycraft Workshop and played basketball for Fairway.

Mike is survived by his sister, Penny Tarbert of Bucyrus; brother, Steve Tarbert and his wife Brendan of Tiffin; nephews, Jeffery Tarbert of Bucyrus, Craig (Lindsay) Routzahn of Upper Sandusky and Eric (Stacie) Routzahn of Tiffin; six great nieces and nephews; and uncle and aunt, Larry and Debbie Tackett. Mike is also survived by his very special caregiver, Susan, who has for the past three years treated him like he was her own.

Mike has touched many lives in his 57 years on this earth. Because of him, his mom started Special Kids Kamp so that he and many many of his friends from throughout the state of Ohio got to experience the joy of camping. He also participated in the first Ohio Special Olympics, winning a gold medal after having to be coached to break the ribbon at the end of the race (he had been taught not to break things). He loved family get-togethers, coloring and crafts, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the companionships of many lap dogs over the years.

Funeral services for Mike will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 pm until the service begins. In Mike’s style, the family would like everyone to dress casual as he really didn't like getting dressed up.
