Michael F. Cartwright, 69, of Bucyrus, Ohio, died at his residence of natural causes Friday, April 1, 2011.
He was born February 7, 1942 in Bucyrus to the late Floyd E. and Kathryn E (Winemiller) Cartwright. Mike graduated from North Robinson High School and then served for four years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon his return to Bucyrus, he served two years in the Naval Reserves and worked at General Electric for 30 plus years before retirement.
He was an avid OSU fan but his real passion was photography. He was always able to bring out the best in individuals through photography. He was an Amway Representative and enjoyed his morning coffee with friends.
He is survived by a step-daughter, Dawn Firstenberger and her mother Carol Harley; two brothers, Patrick D. and Patsy Cartwright of North Carolina and their children, Eric and Kathy, and Timothy and Fran Cartwright of Bucyrus in addition to a few cousins.
Friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5 at Wise Funeral Service. Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 Wednesday at Oakwood cemetery where friends and family will be encouraged to share memories of Mike. Full military rites will then be provided by the American Legion Post 181. Everyone attending is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 for a procession to the cemetery. Contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Crawford Co. or the Am. Diabetes Assoc. through the funeral home.
