Todd Althauser

Michael “Todd” Althauser, 58, died late Thursday, November 9, 2023 at OSU Wexner Medical Center after recent failing health.

He was born in Bucyrus on January 24, 1965 to Roberta L. (Hetrick) Althauser and the late Lester L. Althauser Jr. Todd grew up in the country and loved playing sports. As a youngster, he loved spinning basketballs on his finger just like the Harlem Globetrotters. He was the placekicker for football, played basketball, and played first base, catcher and pitched for baseball at Colonel Crawford High School from which he graduated in 1983. Todd was a hard worker and became an over-the-road truck driver. He spent most of his career driving for Tobias Farms and was remembered by fellow drivers for how many hours he could put in. At home, he saw that his yard was immaculate, grew a nice garden, and loved perfecting his mom’s recipes as he was a great cook. He went to Wayside Chapel while growing up and attended school there for a few years.

Todd also loved caring for his dad’s prized 1977 GMC Pick Up and riding his Harley Davidson. He attended bike rallies throughout Ohio and Florida. He was a huge fan of Ohio State football and enjoyed each visit to the Horseshoe.

Todd is survived by his mother, Roberta Althauser and her significant other, Ralph Sulser; three sisters, Renae Jones, Debbie Burman, and Beth Mueller and their families.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Oakwood Cemetery for Todd’s graveside service and urn burial on Thursday, November 16 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jerrill Wyler officiating.

Those wishing to make a donation in Todd’s memory are encouraged to make them payable to Wayside Christian School and give through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
