Mary Wert

Mary Wert, 92, of Bucyrus died Sunday morning, Dec. 21, 2014 at Heartland of Bucyrus.

She was born Oct. 13, 1922 in Sandusky Twp. to the late Clair Heller and Belle (Weibling) Heller Barciz. Raised in the Bucyrus area, she graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1940 and was a nurse’s aide at Bucyrus Hospital in the 1940s.

She married Wilbert K. Wert on Dec. 28, 1947 and he preceded her in death June 27, 2008.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald E. Wert of Bucyrus and Gregory A. Wert and his wife, Dawn of Nevada; grandchildren, 1st Lt. Gary (Laura) Wert, Mark Wert and Chris (Andi) Ream; great grandchildren, Mia, Juliana, Raven, Jasmine and Jaedon; brother-in-law, Ford Tatman and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by stepfather, Andy Barciz; grandson, Jerrod Ream; two brothers, Robert (Martha) Heller and Richard (Ada) Heller; sister, Ruth Heller (Russell) Pollock; stepbrother, Carl (Jean) Barciz; stepsister, Helen Barciz Tatman; and half-sister, Lulabelle Barciz Weber.

Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus and charter member of the Thorold Heinlen DAV and Richard E. Kanable 37th Div. Auxiliaries.

At Mary’s request, no calling hours will be observed. Family and friends are asked to gather at her grave in Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 26 at 11:00 a.m. for a graveside funeral service with Pastor Jack Kocsis officiating.
